Ectopic canine

Ectopic canine

Probably the most common anomaly treated in clinics is canine ectopia. Canine has a special status on the arch. Strong, long-lived, at the intersection of dent-maxillary force lines, canine protects other teeth in lateral movements, providing the so-called canine guidance. In the absence of this tooth, the protection of dental arches is no longer assured, with the appearance of dental abrasion or dental fractures. Also, the presence of the canine in a vicious position may produce root resorption at the lateral incisor in the immediate vicinity. Therefore, there are sufficient reasons that are not aesthetic, that such an anomaly is ignored by the patient or his / her parents.
